Unsung Hero - Charles Harrison

The ViewMaster was released in 1962. 3D images! Mind blown! I remember jaws dropping and big smiles when people used this. It’s so nice to see how a simple product can bring a little joy to people’s lives.

In the articles linked below, when Mr. Harrison was asked about fame and recognition, he replied “...I needed a weekly paycheck before I needed recognition...I really just wanted to do what I do, and do it as well as I could.”

I love this, we get out of school doing something we love. We have loans to pay off, need to put a roof on our heads and eat every now and then. That’s priorities keeping it real! Mr. Harrison was a long time designer at Sears, a department store back in the day that pretty much sold everything. If you don’t know what Sears is, think Best Buy and Target combined.

Harrison chose living life over fame. Unsung!
